I am presently engaged in full-time work on the Thomas Passmore Project — an archive-based reconstruction of an early American tinware manufactory operating in Philadelphia from 1792 to 1809. This work involves the transcription and analysis of thousands of manuscript entries and forms the foundation for future pieces, designs, and historically grounded studies produced in the shop.
Orders are currently closed. The shop will reopen on October 1 for a limited seasonal release of hand-made tin ornaments and traditional tinsel.
Dakota Tinworks operates as a research-based studio practice. The work at the bench and the work in the archive are part of the same craft — each informing the other.
Ongoing research from the Thomas Passmore Project is being published on Substack. Follow the Passmore Project →
